Creamy Onion Dip
Ingredients
4 cups sweet onions, finely chopped
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup white wine
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 bay leaf
2 cups Gruyere cheese, shredded
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sour cream
assorted crackers, optional, for serving
fresh vegetables, optional, for serving
chips, optional, for serving
Directions
In a slow cooker, combine the onions, butter, wine, garlic, and bay leaf.
Cover and cook on high until the onions are tender and golden brown, about 4 hours.
Remove the bay leaf. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the Gruyere cheese, cream cheese, and sour cream.
Cover and cook until all of the cheese is melted, for about 1 hour.
Serve warm with your favorite dipping snacks.
